Wild Flowers

Wild strawberries and dandelions growing near the pond
I am growing wild flowers  to encourage all the small animals in the garden. I started  a couple of years ago with yellow rattle in the lawn. This feeds off the grass, allowing more wild flowers  to establish. This has worked very well and although it is an annual, it sows itself every year so I have lots of it. Where it is growing I already have a number of wild flowers. In the flower beds I am allowing dandelions and wild strawberries to grow where they like. They are both such beautiful plants.

Wildflowers to attract all sorts of different creatures

This year I got lots of wild flower seeds for Christmas and I'm growing them in pots, otherwise I think they'll just get eaten by slugs.

The grand tulips that may not grow again next near

The tulips are always a joy at this time of year. I have large ones that probably won't survive until next near and little wild ones that will go on for years.

Just for a gorgeous short time, the tree peonies are out. The pink one is doing very well, the red one, near the new pool suffered last year with some sort of rot and I  had to cut most of the buds off, but it has two flowers and plenty of new growth for next near.
