A date for your diary, if you live locally: Sunday 16 June, from 12-4pm, Adults £5, children free.
This is at Torriano Community Garden, Torriano Avenue, NW5 2ST, which I have mentioned before, open for the National Gardens Scheme.
Red camellia in early May |
This wonderful 1 acre community garden, created in 2003 is fully wheelchair accessible. Elisa Puentas who has lived on the estate for 40 years created the garden with a friend with help from the army but is now in sole charge. Anyone can visit the garden on Sundays for free. Here are some pictures taken in early May. Of course, the gardens will have changed since then, but they will still be full of flowers and interest.
The story of my garden this week is of foxes. There were two cubs when I first looked, last week, but recently I have only seen one. It scatters things about the garden, including broken off shrub branches, gardening gloves and pieces of old hose. I still prefer foxes to cats and the foxes do keep the cats away.
Finally, the rain. It has rained every day since I last wrote the diary and no doubt, when it's too sunny and there is no rain I will complain again, but just now, I'd love a little sun.
Thanks Barty - and Happy Birthday for tomorrow!!! Michael Ann
