Garden to Re-visit

Torreano daffodils earlier this year

Last August I wrote about a visit to the Torreano Community Garden, owned, created and maintained by Elisa Puentes, with help from volunteers.

Spring in the Torreano garden

This 1-acre delight within a block-of-flats estate is no longer open to the public all the time as it is difficult for Elisa to prevent people misusing it and leaving trash lying around when she is not there.

However, this year it will be open for the National Garden Open Scheme in June and it is well worth the visit.

The garden is a perfect little oasis within the red brick estate. Built in 2003 in raised beds it is now a mature, beautifully designed and planted space cared for by Elisa and a few volunteers. Plenty of seats allow you to enjoy the individual spaces and watch the bees and birds enjoying the flowers.

Torriano Community Garden will be open on Sunday June 25th 2023 from 2-6. Adults £3.50, children free. Tea and cakes available.
