My olive tree was a present from a friend about 30 years ago. It is about 6ft tall and sits in a robust plastic tub just outside the kitchen door. It has taken on a kind of Leaning Tower of Pisa look but I don't know how to straighten it after all these years.
It is a pleasure all year round and in spring does have a few flowers and olives - not to do anything with, just to enjoy the look of. (Olives make a delicious side dish with a good herby dressing though).
It makes a good subject for lino cuts and sketches. Its branches will hold a bird feeder when required. In summer it's at its best from outside and its shapely leaves look good against the sky. In winter sunlight I can watch it's silhouette through the curtains while snugly warm indoors.
Here is an olive branch for Christmas and I wish you all a happy one and a peaceful 2023.
I wish other countries around the world would extend the olive branch !
ReplyDeleteI wish the world would follow your example and offer an olive branch to all its neighbours !!
