What Doesn't Need Watering?

Creature on marguerite
I can't believe the drought is still carrying on. I have to water things in pots, new plants  and one or things that will die if I leave them unwatered. So what in the garden doesn't need watering in long periods of drought?

Dandelions are a beautiful yellow and much loved by wild creatures
First of all there are all the wild flowers I've planted and are dong well. They are used to making the most of what's there and don't need watering. I have several of those now which are attracting lots of smaller life.

A group of pinks which don't need watering
There are the pinks which need dead-heading but will carry on flowering without water for ages.

The cardoon given to me by a friend is not so tall as usual but is flowering well and loved by bees.

Clematis Mme Julia Correvon

Clematis jackmanii
The two summer-flowering clematis are both doing really well without water.

I found a brown ladybird but don't know what it is. Perhaps it is a young one waiting for it's colour or perhaps it is a brown one. Does anyone recognise it?

  1. I believe that might be a ladybird cocoon in the last picture! The ladybird nymphs go inside them before metamorphosing
