Still Very Little Rain

The forecast keeps promising rain and then there is very little, so I am watering my pots every day. There are the tomatoes, the aubergines and the wild flowers. Some of the tomatoes were given to me by a friend. They are very small, orange when ripe rather than red and taste good. The aubergines have plenty of flowers but are not producing any fruit yet. And the wild flowers are being kept in pots because I think they will be better at finding their own spaces than I would be.

Cabbage White butterfly caterpillars
I found some handsome caterpillars in the front garden this year on the purple toadflax - and was disappointed to find they belonged to a  Cabbage White butterfly, of which I do have several in the garden, eating the cabbages.  But I let them live because I admired them.

Finally, a book I think we should all read: Less is More by Jason Hickel. It is depressing about climate change but has words of comfort about the things we can do.
